For equestrian enthusiasts, the rustic charm of the stable is more than just a place to house horses; it represents a lifestyle, a second home, and even a sanctuary. Bringing that sense of warmth and tradition into your home is not only a tribute to your love for horses but also a great way to infuse your interiors with natural textures, cozy elements, and timeless appeal.

Read MoreOnce again, I am ecstatic to be included in this month’s issue of Equestrian Living! I love this magazine so much and really appreciate that they love my work.
This feature is a unique story of a photoshoot that was a collaboration with my good friends Christine of Hart Equestrian and Lisa of Savenac 1821. We were able to shoot at the Welbourne Inn in Middleburg, VA in the middle of horse country, which was such a treat!

Read MoreAfter completing my bedroom project, I was so happy to see my equestrian memorabilia displayed every day in a way that felt honorable. My room is the ultimate relaxing retreat.
My office on the other hand, was a disaster. As someone who knows just how much our environment affects our well-being and productivity, I knew how much of an energy-sucker that room was for me. I also had so much more of Alice’s tack displayed in a hap-hazard way. It was time for a major change.
Read MoreOur house came with these great built-in cabinets, which was a selling point for me. I have a ton of coffee table books that I love to display and have on hand at all times. I have never really been a fan of the white, though. It feels very safe and neutral, and it’s time to shake things up.
Read MoreI work as if I’m Albert Einstein’s protege, paper strewn about, fabric samples in stacks waiting to be filed away, paints and countertop samples pulled together for a meeting, client folders and binders stacked on the desk. And now with the addition of Modern Equestrian Shop, I have boxes upon boxes of inventory coming in, packing supplies and orders ready to send out. I walk into my office and immediately feel the impact of the disorganization and it overwhelms me. This is the last feeling one should have upon walking into the space where they are supposed to feel inspired, creative and productive. I knew it was time to make my office space a priority, for the sake of my sanity and the health of my two businesses.
Read MoreOne thing I have learned over the course of my career as an interior designer is that the design process is a very personal experience -- no two projects are the same. The same is true for clients.
As the client, it is important that you feel comfortable and confident in your designer. You want to partner with those in alignment with you, your lifestyle, and your project goals.

Read MoreFinding the perfect nightstands was imperative, as I had this shot in my mind before I even started the project. I knew that I wanted something with texture, not just another wood surface. When I saw this leather nightstand with saddle stitching and brass hardware, it was a mouse-drop moment. BOOM. We’re done here. Yikes, how much do they cost? I’ll take two. (Hands over credit card with eyes closed.)
Read More“Hey, let’s paint our own bedroom. It will be FUN. And EASY.” -Said. No. One. EVER.
That’s how we began this fun little exercise in futility… although I guess I can’t really call it that because we did succeed in the end.
Read MoreHere’s the reality, folks: Although I am keenly aware of the downfalls of my own personal environment, I have been unable to improve it due to so many different circumstances- at first it was a lack of money, then I blamed it on having small children, and then it was just abandoned while I focused on growing my business and raising my children (not in that order). I have finally decided that I want - NAY- deserve a grown-up bedroom while I’m still in my 30’s (even if it’s only for a few more months… designers love nothing more than a tight deadline). Let’s take a look at what we’re working with.
